HELP -- Is this ich? (See photo)

I just noticed my lionfish like this a few minutes ago. His eyes are also clouded over. Puffer is also acting wierd (just sits on bottom -- very little activity). All of this started the day after I installed my UV sterilizer. What's going on here? I've tested my water and everything is within proper levels.

Your SG is low. The fact that you have ammonia is probably why they are acting odd. Can you tell me more about the white spots? Does it look as bad as it does in the picture or is that from the camera? Is it just the 2 fish in there?

It looked just like the photo earlier. I added QuickCure and he looks better now. Now I have a new dilema. After I added the ICH medicine my starfish are freaking out. See photo:

I'm about to do a 20% water change. Maybe that'll help things.

Quick cure contains malechite green which is very toxic to your inverts. Ich is an invert. You cannot kill one invert without killing them all. NEVER use any kind of medication in a display tank. Do you have a quarantine tank? Your fish need to be seperated from the rest of your stock for treatment. You may want to get going on some water changes to get the quick cure out of your tank. Running some carbon will help as well.

Please post what else is in this tank. How much lr, ls inverts etc.
There are only two things that kill ich, hyposalinity and copper. Hyposalinity is the prefered treatment and can not be done with your inverts, rocks or sand. The inverts, rocks, and LS or the fish have to be moved.

Two Hermits
Two Choc Chips (If they survive)
I know that with this set-up I'm going to have to upgrade tank size. That's the plan early next year.

Ich is in your system and has to be removed. Which would be easier for you, to remove the fish into a qt tank or remove your inverts, rocks, and sand? You should start treatment ASAP.

Are you saying to move all the fish or only the lion? If ich is in fact in the system how do I get it out of my rock & sand?

You will have to remove all of the vertebrates to an isolation tank where you can hypo them (or copper - your choice). Leave the DT empty of vertebrates for 4-6 weeks (closer to 6 is better), and the ich organisms will die off for lack of a vertebrate host. Then you can return your fish to the DT.

Yep
All fish have to be removed and treated. Ich is in your system. If it is easier for you to move your rocks and inverts then you can do that. It takes less time in the DT. Ich is usually killed off in hypo in about 4 weeks. Your DT can handle the bioload of your fish, a new qt will take alot of work to keep the tank from spiking. Did you say you have live sand? What kind of live sand? Did you buy real live sand complete with critters? If so then it needs to come out as well. If your live sad is just "live" in bacteria then it will be fine to keep in there.

Sometimes you need to be blunt! It is not a mean thing if it helps someone!
That said.... Why has no one asked what exact med was added????
Why is that no one suggested what should be done for the Stars??
((even if it was a worthless cause???))
That said, I will assume that the stars pictured are now deceased unless posted otherwise....
Where are you Dean1969?
If you update the situation it is possible that someone can help you save something....
