Do you have a korilla power head of you do Tank the magnet that holds it to the tank and swip it over the sand. That might pick it up.

Stainless Steal isn't attracted to magnets if its a high grade. SS shouldn't rust in your tank anyways.
If you run a magnet through your sand you will probably fing all sorts of things. I have an algae free grate white (strongest mag cleaner i know of). I ran it trough my sand to find a razor blade i dropped when it was all cloudy. I came out with all sorts of rusted metal chuncks and it was all brand new live sand. so i have always done this with new sand i always come out with some metal chuncks rusting. /end rant

How big is "Mini". You might be able to scoop thru the sand with your net if it is big enough. If its small enough it might have fell into a crack/crevice/hole in your rock?
