help me choose a clown please

:happy: I can't decide which clown i would like to purchase. i have it narrowed down to two choices: perc or maroon. i know the maroon will get larger, but how large? i only have a 55 gal, im not looking to overdue it. I would like two, i think? i've read everywhere that clowns do best when in pairs, i not interested in them mating, what do u guys think? i would be fine with just one of either species, but i don't want to put a lonely little sad clown by himself, or will it matter?
any opinions or thoughts on which to choose is greatly appreciated as i am indecisive and love every fish (cant have em all)

As you see form my pic on my other post I have a maroons. I decided to go with them because they are a little more aggressive and I personaly like the color better. I bought a 2 of them real small (about 1 inch each) and they allready paired off, the larger one gets a belly every 3 weeks but I have not yet tried to save the fry. They also get along with all my other fish. JMHO

how big do u think the maroon's would get?

Everything I read says they grow up to four inches

Add Ocellaris to your list IMO.

ok, so should i get a pair or just one? the perc would get about 2 inches i guess? and the maroon around 4. :happyfish
is either a more hardy fish? or less shy?

In a 55 you might find your Maroon bullying other fish. Percula or Ocellaris won't normally do that.

ok, thanks. that's kind of the answer i was looking for. i like all my fish to get along, so i guess i should get the perc's. plus this leaves some extra room in the tank.
so should i get one, or two?

i don't want to be one of those cruel people who insist on stuffing my tank full of fish, how do u guys feel about these in a 55 gal? (standard 48 in)

They actually shoal, but yes they will.

ok, so they "shoal" b/c their movement is not synchronized and polarized. forgive me for saying "school"
