If rinsing your hand four times doesn't remove the soap adequately for a quick reach into the tank, we are all going to fail. Don't worry. It is best to avoid the soap when you plan to be working in the tank, but I think you took all reasonable precautions in this emergency situation.

sounds like you got the soap off but what about the chlorine in the tap water!!!

Just kidding.
I get paranoid too and my wife keeps telling me she windexed the tank to mess with me.

I have learned that these critters in our tanks can be surprisingly resilient. I had a panic attack when my bubble coral was accidently knocked into the substrate, polyp down. Or I had broken a leg off of my brittle star. Had to use tap water when my nephew broke my RO unit.
You will experience many things and be suprised at how well they do when adverse conditions arise in an emergency.
Good Luck!!!

Also, if you have a protein skimmer, this will help keep your water free of such stuff. 4 times seems more than fine.
cheers,

I clean my hands with salt before putting my hand in the tank,It scrubs pretty good.Or I use rubber gloves which I have just for the tank. But I think you should be ok.When I first started out I used to wash my hands with soap and did'nt realize until later i could be causing problems but nothing serious ever happened.

It is much better IMO to have clean hands when reaching into your tank than risking introduction of disease causing germs from dirty hands. Just rinse well and you should be fine.
