Help me keep my tank cool

I'm looking for useful or creative, inexpensive ways to keep my reef tank cool. I have metal halides and would like to stay away from spending a lot on a chiller. I appreciate any advice.

hmm.... nothing really minus shortening the hours of the light comes to mind.
I will follow this thread to learn from it as well.
sorry for not being able to help...

A fan directed on the surface will help...you can hang the lights higher, I put mine on a pulley system and it helps big time. The corals get light and the little difference in distance helps with the heat and water changes are easier.
I have 2 X 175w MH with 2 X 96w actinic
Unless you have critters that need the cold like seahorses and such, the extra heat won't do any harm. My 90g reef hit 90 for a day and the corals and fish could care less...it sat on 87 for days. It may not be good for a long time but once in a while won't hurt. Since I hung my lights, and put fans on opposite ends (one pointed in and the other out) I have had no issues with heat anymore at all.
