OK great wizards of the forum. I'm taking my first step. I have a 82 gal bow front tank. It is 48" long, stands 27" high and of course varies in width from 15" to 18". I would like to have a reef tank, mature it for a year before adding fish. I'll have the standard corals, anemones, etc. I'd like to have you share with me the lighting system necessary for a HAPPY tank. Hold nothing back. The perfect system would be???? I'v had fun reading all the posts, but now its showtime. Thanks

Dual 175watt halides... you can keep almost anything givin your parameters are right
If you don't want to do the anemone, you could do a nice mixed reef with t-5's, with metal halides your corals would thrive, and you would have a better chance at long term success. The fish will be fine under almost any light, but personally, I prefer halides or t-5's... really makes the colors "pop." Again though, it was really a loaded question.. really depends on the kind of reef you plan on keeping.
