The puffer might nip at the fins of the lionfish. I've had them together with success, though.

All but the dwarf lions will outgrow a 55, as would a porc. It's not a big tank for most aggressive species so think "smaller aggressive".
A dwarf lion, maybe a snowflake eel. Hamlets are interesting and colorful. A big 'ol maroon clown or one of the larger hawkfish would be neat. The sharpnose puffers would also work.

Thanks for the advice jcrim and nicetry. How big do dwarf lions get? Whigh lion would work the best with a porcupine puffer? How long do you think I could keep a lion and porcupine puffer in the 55 I'f I bought them real small. Maybe I could upgrade to a 90 or 125 later on but right now I not have enough $$$. Would a 90 be big enough for a porcupine and lionfish?

Thanks! I've decided to make the 55 a reef aquarium. I seem to like them more anyway. I might eventually get a bigger tank to do a fowler in, but that will be later on. Thanks for all that helped me make up my mind on what to do.
