Hi everyone, I'm kinda new again to this site. A little background- about 5 years ago I had a 72gal FOWLR, but we moved across the country and I couldn't take it with me. Just getting ready to get started up again, with a brand new BioCube 29. Haven't started anything yet, but I have the basic set up and I plan to cycle it the good old fashioned long way. I remember most of what I used to know, but it's been a while so I'm just re-researching everything. Right now, here's my plan.
-Took out the bio balls, LFS suggested filling that with small chunks of LR instead. Also saw the post about turning that section into a refugium, might try that. Probably keep the standard lights & the rest of the set up.
-20 lbs of live sand, prob 30 lbs of live rock.
-Basically right now I'm hoping to have the following fish, eventually:
lawnmower blenny
royal gramma
bangaii cardinal
purple firefish
My older book says the firefish and cardinals do better in pairs, so I'm thinking I have to get 2 of each. Any experiences or thoughts on that?
This time around, I would like to do a reef. I probably won't add any corals right away, but I wanna make sure everything I get is reef safe. So, now I need to know what I should get as a cleanup crew for this size tank. If the bio load isn't too much, I might possibly want a blue fish of some sort or some percs with an anemone. I REALLY wanted a flame angel in my 72 and never got it, sorta bummed that I can't go that big again.
So... what do you think? Suggestions? Anything else about the BioCube I should be thinking about before I start?
Thanks!
