I am getting alot of water evaporation what is the required distance for a metal halide light(150w 20000k) to hang above a tank???The light also has 2 x T5 39w fluros as well.
One more thing I got an bubble tip anemone today. Just want to know if they remain closed up at first because it has not opened up yet and seems to be hiding in the rocks and has shrunk itself?
thanks

6 to 12in from top water of recomended.evaporation is norm.
my 125g losses 1 1/2 gal a day/3 250w mh.
as for bta srinking and hiding is norm .can take any where from
a week to month before they find there spot.i did find that mine
didnt like alota flow .its now where its tenticals just wave lightly.
mine move arond for 2 weeks then went in rock crevace.i couldnt take it
so i turned over rock ,placed in low flow and its now fine.i just added a small
maroon clown.and it went right to the bta,got stung a couple times the went in.

My bta has yet to open. He is about 3 weeks old in my tank. He just keeps on moving around. It is amazing how well they can get around.

Seemingly excessive evaporation is perfectly normal this time of year. In the winter months, the air gets really dry which only encourages it.
Auto top offs are one of the best ways to deal with this. Whole house humidifiers can also help as the higher the humidity in the house, the less things will evaporate. They save energy too...
