Someone please help i have a torch coral in my tank and it is drestically deminishing. it's like it has a desease or something, but the place i bought it from had it for months but i wanted to make sure that my tank would be ready to support a difficlut item like this. i bought other corals, a flowerpot coral and brain coral on the same day and out of the same tank, and they couldn't be doing better. someone with some knowledge of a solution, please contact me quickly, Mattctr40@aol.com.

are these your first corals, if so you may want to try some easier ones, if not tell me your give a list of everything in/on your tank.

I had a similiar problem when I brough my torch home last week. Over night, one head died and a couple days later the second one died. Now I have an expensive skeleton left in the tank. I have a 29 gallong tank w/130 watts PC light. The tank is still young though, only 2 months old. Between a stressful move and an immature tank, I guess it probably didn't have a good shot.
However, I thought that torch corals were easy to maintain? I also got a long tentical plate that also died. That one was my fault as I didn't do any research on it before hand. They are very difficult to keep in captivity.

I didn't. I've never acclimate any of my corals (neither has anyone I know). Even my LFS said that they never acclimate coral. Who knows though, it may have added to the problem.

I have had a Green Torch Coral for two weeks now. You have to be carefull when handling them, and acclimating them. I was sure to keep mine under water as long as possible and not put any unnecessary stress on the coral. My LFS told me how to handle it and that it did need to be floated to acclimate it. When you pick it up out of the water all the weight of the water pulls on it and can cause it to become stressed. So when you lift it up try and do it so the coral goes back into the branches and does hang out. I have had mine for only 2 weeks like I said. I am no expert for sure, but so far it is doing great. I have 130 watts of light on it too.

Thanks for the info. Good to know next time! Sounds like we have a similiar setup. How long have you had the tank set up?
