so i just received a new porcupine puffer today, i was really excited. Well we did the acclimation process and he puffed up twice during that. So then it was time to put him in the tank, he freaked out spun in a circle and puffed up again. He was breathing but now i m not seeing any movement and he is currently upside down, floating :( Could this be a shock thing and i should wait till morning or should i scoop him out now?

awwww that sounds horrible... i'm sorry you are forced to deal with this... even sadder for your puffer... although i would keep an eye on it.. it is "possible" that he is playing dead as a responce to stress... without seeing him myself i couldn't tell you.. i had a fish look like he was dead in my acclimation bucket I took him out and put him in my tank and he woke up after a while... so you never know... keep us posted on his progress... honestly... if you did everything right... perhaps you were sold an ill fish...

check for lumps on the puffer. if there is he may have ingested air and you will need to burp it.
also next time acclimating add some melifix marine to the water that he came in before you start to drip the tank water in. not only will it give it the medicinal benefits of the melifix, the eucalyptus will calm the fish down and relax it.
when i acclimated my humu it was flopping in the bucket and really stressing. within 30 seconds of adding the melifix it calmed down and just swam in circles being a good fish.

Sounds like you gave your nervous fish a cigarette
