OK... I really need help. My Niger Trigger has fin rot I think. His tail has looked funny for the last month, but I thought he was just scraping it going in and out of the barnacles. Now in the last few days it has started to deteriorate rapidly. I do not have a qt tank (I know I know) but will be setting one up tomorrow. But I don't think my trigger will last as long as it takes to get one ready. Also, his tankmates do not have any signs of anything. Is finrot contagious??? Do I need to treat the whole tank???
Tank specs listed on prev post from today. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thanks for the fast reply. Do I need to worry about his tank mates? As I sit here and do more research, I am thinking my foxface may have it as well. Both Puffers and my damsel show no signs.
Thanks again!!!

A bacterial infection my be contagious, or it may not. Start out treating fish that seem to be sick. You can use Nitrofurazone or Mayacyn2.
You can setup a hospital tank just as soon as you can get the tank from the LFS to your house. As stated, use your tank water [as long as it is good quality]. You will need to be dilengent about maintaining excellent water quality in the hospital tank.
With antibiotic treatment, I always do a water change daily and just before I add a dose. Additionally, lights off during antibiotic treatment.
