:help: I need help on what to run for a filter system, I have a 60g with 20lbs of lr & 40 on the way no fish yet. I am running a Fluval 104 & 304 with carbon & biomedia & a add on skimmer (fluval works good but must fill filter faster) anyway I need to know what to run as far as a sump system I want to do it right so I would like to know what to do. Do I need a fug with bioballs or ??? I was told you dont need bio balls with lr. What about a good overflow, whats a good one. I have 260 watts of light, I just want to know whats my next step & how to do it. Maybe a book sugestion I tried researching the net but there are way to many options $30 skimmers up to 3-400, I dont want a hang on I have another room where my filters are & have lots of room to do what I want, it pretty much a dedicated room for my tank & supplies. Please help.

Having 60# of live rock you can get rid of the bio media in the fluva and just run carbon. I have a 30 long as a sump/refugium and it works great. Lifereef makes an excellent overflow. For skimmer I would run either a euro-reef or deltec.HTH

I have a chance to buy a used Berlin Red Sea skimmer with a overflow (brand of overflow unknown). Is the Berlin Red Sea skimmer a good one? Oh yeh no pump with it.

I have a berlin skimmer that can either be used as a HOB or sump and it worked well in the sump but i upgraded to a euro-reef and that one worked much better. All in all the berlin was good but not impressive as the euro-reef. What model is the berlin?

Its a Berlin Red Sea Classic Protein Skimmer for 25 to 250 gallons, is it a good starter?
Ther price is right about $40 for both skimmer & overflow.

I beleive thats the only way you can use that model. I have the one that can be used as a HOB or sump. It didnt work that great as a HOB but work good in the sump.
