About two weeks ago, I added 110 watts(2x55) more of pc to my existing 192 (2x96) to my 55gl reef. About three days ago my beautiful Torch coral started to turn pale from its original deep green. Its kind of whiteish yellow. I called my local shop and they told me that it is bleaching out because the change in lighting. The tentacles are still out but about half of the size, they are still metty and no skeleton showing. Is he going to survive or is he as good as dead. I have not lost a coral before so if he is dying what should I do. Another question is, should I adjust my lights were my 2x110 only come on for a few hours. Right now one 96 actinic runs for 12hrs and one 96 daylight for 11hrs and the 2x55 50/50 smart lights for 10 hrs. Water as follows, ph- 8.2, nitra-.05, nitri-0, ammo-0, alk-3.5, calc-400,sali-1.024, tenp-77 dgrs

Take a look at my thread in the Equiptment forum regarding Ultraviolet in aquaria lighting.
I think this may be a significant factor to some of the unexpected problems encoutered in fish keeping. Anyway, may want to keep an eye on that thread to see if we get any responses on the issue as well as deal with the lighting querry you raise here. I think hobbyst should seriously consider using a barrier for their heavier lighted setups.

If you can change the timing of teh added lights, then reduce it to 1hr and add an hour every other day. If not reduce the timing of the light system by half then add an hour every other day until you get about 12 hrs.
