I'm planning on a 125 reef build. i have pretty much all of it figured out, except the lighting. i found a 72" retrofit w/ 3 X 175w MH, and 2 X 160 VHO. when i go about building the canopy, how much clearance should i give the lights?

I would go at least 10"plus whatever the hight of the reflector is.
my canopy is 18" high....i have pritty much same light set up....
just a helping hint. my halides are 175w 10K bulbs (x3), i used 160w actinics for my VHO bulbs (x2). the water was way to greenish yellow. i had to order another retro fit VHO set of 160w actinics (x2). then the tank became full with color...i know a combination of bulbs will give you different looks. and you would want the halides to be 10k for growth. but with how green they are, they need alot of actinics to supplement the color balance.....
