I'm setting up a 20g tank in my room. What does a pair of black and white percula clowns need to breed. Need recommendations on what kind of anemone and what sort of lighting it needs. Im aging the saltwater and Im going to buy some more sand for the tank and my 125g.

Well now after the octo is gone I'm going to try to breed a pair of b&w percs. I have done my research by reading the archives on breeding clowns and googling it up and reading about it there.
For my 20g I need to get a skimmer and I was thinking about a Current Fission Nano Skimmer they sell here a swf.com. It works on tanks up to 12g but I was thinking that it was nice since it is an in tank skimmer that is small and doesn't need a big setup.
I was also thinking would a hang-on refigium be good so that the fry can go in there at first so there wouldn't need to be an acclimation? Can the fry go through a drip acclimation?
I have a poor lighting system, the lights came with the tank so how much lighting would I need for an Alantic Carpet Anemone?
My stock list would be:
1xCarpet Anemone
2xBlack and White Percula Clowns
I was thinking of getting a couple of 2-5 gallon buckets and putting airstones in with some lights for the green algae (for the Rotifers), and having a bucket for brine shrimp and rotifers. That would be three total buckets with some extra for hatching clowns.
My setup will be 20-30lbs of live rock, live sand, and a creamic tile.
Any other advice would be great. I will try to get pics as soon as I move my 20g and get that up and running.

I dont know much, but heres the specs of what I do, 1, go to the archives find the clownfish brreding articles, the one by oceana, read that. U CANNOT keep them connected to the tank. they need a huge rotifer density, and the rotifers need to be cultured on cultured phytoplankton. You either remove them before tehy hatch or at night after.

Ya I read that article in the archives. I was wondering ho well the baby clowns would do during acclimation.

hmm, personnaly, because you are using the slate, i would put the eggs in the rearing tank prior to hatch. Or, slightly easier and better. Just Fill the 10g rearing tank with tank water. But for this you'd need a bigger tank for teh parents, or a large sump. I recommend what i just said. Get a large sump (rubbermaid Tupperware) and use that on teh parents tank. When the babies hatch, at night, lure them to the surface with a flashlight. Then scoop them up and slowly pour them into the rearing tank that was filled with their parents tankwater

So get a large tank so that I can add water from the main tank into the rearing tank, and then add the little clowns into possibly my 20g? Thanks for helping me.
:notsure:

Okay well since no one has been answering or repling I was thinking to myself that it doesn't make sense why can't two percula clowns stay in the 20g and move the little ones to a 5g bucket or a container. Maybe that is what you're saying. Would this work also. Put all that equipement into my 20g and add an airstone. Then when the eggs are laid, acclimate the parent fish to a rubbermaid storage bin and add water, sand, and a filter. Turn off the pumps and leave the airstone running on the 20g. Then when they hatch wait and once they get older I could get rid of most, and switch the parents and the remainding little ones till they are gone, and hopefully do it all over again.
Any other advice on breeding clowns and confirmation or constructive critism on that idea is welcome. :happyfish
