I have a post up here that shows my tank I'll see if I can locate it I have the BioCube 29. I was having the same issue and after messing with the nozzel of the pump I got it to circulate the water to where it was agitating the top while not creating a massive stir and also hitting the front of the tank where the glass curves kind of pushing the current infront of the tank and around to where the intakes are for the filter. I also purchased a small power head to give that last little push to the filter but to also force the current to the back wall of the tank where it gets forced down behind my LR creating no dead zones. Having the pump agitate the top of my water like that keeps the top crystal clear. Hope this helps.

i put a maxijet 900 in the tank in the back left, it does not take up alot of space but the surface water flow is great and i never have anything but clear water on top

I had the same problem. I have a 12 gal., bought the protien skimmer, got fed up with it and took it out. Then bought a wave maker nozzle and I don't have that problem anymore!

I use the RIO 800 and put the adjustable knob in it to lessen the flow rate here is a pic look at the upper right corner.

I have a 24G aquapod as well. I added a FLUVAL 2 plus pump filter last night. Todya, it is like a new tank! I use the carbon and water polishing pads. I was having a HUGE problem with cyano in there, and the surface water was still. I don't think the factory pump has enough power to stand alone. I will post a pic soon.
