I have been noticing in the past week that there has been alot of this brown algae growing on the sand bed and on the live rock.(see pictures) This brown is sprouting all over the place. I have never used tapwater but I have been using store bought distilled water for top offs and water changes. I have an ecosystem mud filter and current orbit lighting. The tank has been setup for 2 months now. All of my water parameters are great except for phosphates. Any suggestions and how can I remove the algae from the LR.

Is it reddish brown? Looks like it could be cyanobacteria. Be sure you have good flow throughout the tank (no dead spots) How's your lighting? Are you overfeeding? :D
Pic. #1 looks like a classic dead spot.

I think you are right about the flow I have two powerheads and only one is on. My lighting is on for approx. 10-12 hrs per day. I dont feed heavy because I dont have much livestock. one clarki clown, two three striped damsels and some crabs serpent stars etc... I feed some flake once a day and clams once per week.

Definitely increase the water flow in there.....try cutting lighting time in half for awhile. If you don't have corals shut them off for a few days. Try feeding every other day, once a day. :D
Do a search for cyano on this board....there's plenty of good info. on how to get rid of it. HTH
