You could do what ever you wanted where ever you wanted in your tank. But I would look for a fixture with T-5s and not PC. Or even VHO. PCs run alot hotter and do not last as long.

For 814 I wouldnt get those newayz thats expensive.
Id get me a tek 48inch fixture. Better bang for the buck by far. At reefgeek they have them... Now if only I had of seen that site before I ordered my 36 inch fixture id set to go. Ive spent more on my 36 inch fixture and dont even have all the bulbs yet...

As far as I know you can not replace t-5's with PC's. If you want to get technical t-5 is just a measurement of bulb size. So "technically" you could have a pc bulb that is the t-5 size. However when we refer to a t-5 it is a different type of bulb. However if new at 300 bucks the coralife would be a great deal... Personally I went with a simular fixture made by current but the price tag was a bit higher.

If you mod that thing for T5's in place of the PC's make sure you use reflectors for the lamps. You will get more light from 2 T5 lamps with good reflectors than cramming 4 lamps in without reflectors. The Ice Cap T5 reflector is 2 1/2" wide and the Aquactinics are 2" wide. aAn outfit called aquarium specialties should have them available on ine.
