We have a 42 gallon tank. have not had any problems with it. it had been running crystal clear. woke up this morning the water had a green hue to it. the only thing that we have done to it lately is change the light bulb. any suggestions on what can be causing this, and how to get rid of it.

The light bulb is the prob. Older bulbs lose intensity over time. Replace them and bang, everything goes nuts.
I would decrease the time you have you lights on by a couple hours and then slowly increase over a few days.

i also think thats the prob. the strong light caused an algae burst. i try and change my lights before they get that low. i may have to change them more often and it may cost more but it avoids problems in the long run. nothing to be worried about though!
