HELP! Set up 1st Q-tank, BIG problems!!!

I setup my frst Q-tank last tuesday to be ready to get my six line wrasse on wednesday. I have a 15g bare bottom tank, a piece of dead coral, PH and power filter. I used a filter cartrage i had in my main tank power filter. I used 1/2 water from main tank & 1/2 new mix. I received him on wednesday and all was good, he was eating good and everything. Now, hes gasping and laying on his side on the bottom of the tank, just all of the sudden. I checked the ammonia again (i've been doing this once a day) this time it was .50, so i did a water change and all is good(as far as water conditions go) but he still is not doing well. Than i treated with some greenex, because i thought it was maybe his condition was due to ick. Now he is still on the bottom still alive but he doesn't look good . I don't understand what happened, he looked real good until this afternoon.
Anyone have any suggestions at all?

What does it look like(like color loss, cloudy eyes,etc.), does it look the same as usual.

It looks like it usually does. But noticed a web like secreation (sp) near it. I've heard of some wrasses making some sort of web around them when they sleep but i wasn't sure if six lines do this or not.

Ya, my painted parrotfish makes a web like secretion when he goes to sleep. Is your wrasse laying on his side?

I just checked on him, hes got himself sort of wedged half way inside a small hole in a piece of live rock on the bottom. He is no longer lying on his side. Seems, he is doing this on purpose to hide and to keep hiself vertical. Any other thoughts? I feel so bad for him, hes such a cool loking fish and he was doing SO well. Hope he makes it.
I forgot to tell you that i panicked & moved him to the main tank because he looked so rough and i was afraid i did somthing wrong with setting up the Q-tank. I probably jumped the gun on doing that but i felt it was in best inrest of the fish.

He now is laying on his side sometimes but if touched by my cleaner shrimp he moves and swims a little.
Anyone else have any ideas???

Update: Lost the fish this morning. Wish i knew what happened so it does't happen again.
