Help! Sick Royal Gramma

My royal gramma has been fine for the last few days, and I did a water change on Monday night (my first one). I used distilled water, and changed out 4 gallons, and added another 3 gallons that I needed to replace evaporated water.
I have 2 perc. clowns that are doing fine, but my gramma was not showing his face all day- then my wife found him in a cave in a rock hiding- we got him out, and he is very weak. he has some whitish (almost clear) stuff on his face mostly- and some behind his gills- looks kinda of like alage. the day beofre i did notice that he was rubbing himself against a rock. does he have ick? if so- can i save him? i took him out of the tank for now- he is in a bucket with about 3 inches of water in it- just until i figure out what is going on with him.
if he is going to die- is it bad to leave him in the tank? i don't want him to poison the other fish if he dies- what should i do?

Sorry about your royal. Pretty hardy fish so be careful witht he rest of your stock.
Why do you have ammonia in your tank? How long has it been up? Did you let it cycle properly? How is the tank stocked? More info please. Don't add anymore fish until this is all figured out.
