Help, tail rot, any good med suggestions?

I am currently treating my fish for ick using hyposalinity in my 10g hospital tank. My coral beauty also has tail rot. Can anyone suggest any cost effective method of treatment? I say this because i have read on past posts that Maracyn and maracyn-2 are the best but are very expensive. I bought some melafix, but have read posts on this med and decided not to use it. For the mean time, i started feeding some anti-bacterial flake food today. I had some of this from when i just started out in the hobby. What are other effective meds that have been used sucessfully?

Terry, the tail is torn up (about 1/3 of it is missing) and fish is just starting to have a hard time swimming. Seems that maybe 3-4 rays are also exposed on the dorsal fin. What would you suggest? As i posted, i bought some melafix but read that this stuff was REAL bad and was suggested not to use it. Is it okay to use the meds you mentioned while using hyposalinity?
