Help to lower KH & PH

Just got a test kit (API) found some problems; KH is 140 and PH is 8.5. Calcium is low too 350.
How can I lower/raise these? Could this be causing a BTA to shrink up?
I found a thread that followed & it seemed pretty confusing. Any simple answer?

a good water change (20 percent)

Yes but test your water before you add it to your tank. If the newly mixed water is also high then you have a bad batch of salt. No use doing a water change if you're levels are the same in both.
