Hello All
I have discovered that I have the dreaded mantis shrimp in my tank that I am concerned about. The rock that he has decided to take over has 2 red mushroom on it. I have researched about the mantis shrimp and have decided that I do not want this hitchkicker in my tank. I really need help about how to get this out of my tank. I have read that a hypersaline solution dip would do the trick however I am not sure, I have also read that I should leave the rock outside on newspaper for awhile and the little critter will escape. Any suggestions??? If it is for a dip can you give excat details about this for I have no idea what I am doing. Thanks in Advance!!!

try not to kill him us mantis people are weird somebody will want him and will give him a good home

I have no plans on killing him, I planned on bringing him to LFS or if someone wants him and pays for everything I am willing to ship.

If you know the rock where he is then take it out and squirt fresh water, or seltzer water into his hole and he will come out swinging......or stabbing.......or smashing whatever those strange critters do.

Keep him or sell him to the LFS... those guys don't have a lot of people who would be willing to buy them, but for those that ARE looking for a mantis, they'll pay good money for them. What color is it and how large is it?

UPDATE-the mantis shrimp is out of my tank.
I put an ad on a website for a free mantis shrimp and he has been rehomed to a really nice guy that wants him in his tank. Thanks for all the advice.

Yes freshwater dip worked, flushed out the little guy. It didn't take long at all. I guess I got lucky. Hopefully I don't have anymore....

freshwater dips usually kill them, you're better off with a hyper saline solution of about 1.031 or higher. luckily you didn't kill it :)
