Help - weird anemone behavior

I just help a guy break down his 135gal - we took home a purple bubble tip anemone that is acting so weird! We placed it on a good bright spot w/ lots of water flow and it moved back into the sand under a rock crevice - face (??) side down (mouth in the sand) but the tenticals were still moving around. So, we fished him out a few days later and tried to place him in light/movement again and it went into the sand again - only this time in the front of the tank sandbed. His foot is up but again, his mouth is in the sand...
Anybody have a clue what this thing is doing?? We got another anemone from that tank and it is thriving (it sits on the other end of our tank) and both my clownfish have taken to it..
I don't know if maybe I should take it out of my tank before it does some serious damage?? But, it appears to be alive.

Not to be a pest but could you possibly provide a picture of this thing. Purple would be a unique color for a BTA. What color would you call the column of the anemone?
As to its current behavior, I agree it is a bit unusual. Best I can tell you is that give it time and watch its behavior. Is it actually planting it's foot onto/into anything?

I don't know if it's a Purple Bubble tip - that's what the guy called it

Here's pic of it from a few minutes ago - it's been this way all day???

Looks in bad shape to me, and if it is a true "purple" color then it was dyed - another reason why it could be on its way out. Does its tenticles react when you touch them?
I had a sebae do this too, and the next day it was dead. I would place it on its foot, then it would move a little bit then decide to put its mouth into the sandbed.

My suggestion is just to leave it alone. If it starts to fall apart then it is dead and you need to take it out so that you don't get an ammonia spike. IMHO I think the anemone is on its way out the door...
Sorry, hope things work out for you! Keep us posted please.

Unfortunately... it died. I moved it to a quarnitine tank and it tried really hard but in the end, it died... sigh...

Maybe I'm wrong, but I see those anenomes in Florida all the time. I can't remember the name, but they are really cheap. I have two of them. They both have purple tips. I think they are farely common here and are not dyed.
