if i put cc, big piece of dead coral, wet/dry filter, 250 watt heater, and lighting.
and i have 6 mexican grazer snails, 2 cleaner shrimp, and 1 peppermint shrimp
will the tank cycle with the wet/dry filter????? or do i have to add something to start the ammonia, please help, i have no idea what to do.

Add your substrate,l/r and water. Get your filter running and your tank would start cycling. Some people use regular shrimp from the grocery store in their water to start the biofilter. Add some cycle to your water it "good" bacteria

read this article, it should help with some of your questions, did you buy all this yet? or are you planning on it? especialy the inverrts, they can't be in the tank during the cycle, i tvery possibly may kill them
and many of us here will advise against using cycling additives, they aren't worth the money to most of us who used them, especially when you consider that the little they do, can be done for free, but ;many have not had success or been even slightly impressed(some do like it, but not most)

This may be comeing to you late, but if you were to add live sand " which I do believe you can get a ***** in 20lb bags, you will not need to worry about cycling, i started a 55 tank put in 40 lbs of LS and dumped a niger trigger, yellow tang, 2 coral catfish, a hechinodis??? and a flame angel right away with no probs at all, it has living bacteria in it all ready.

reefnjeff??? I do not believe that is correct. Even adding this "*****" sand, your tank will still will/need to cycle. Yes, the sand has bacteria, but your tank needs to establish itself, not just by adding bacteria.

i gotta agree with marty, even with ls, you need to cycle, it may not take nearly as long, but it needs to be done, and you really should stock slowly, no matte rhow you do it,a nd your welcome for the page
