my leather finger coral has been limp for about a week now since i got it at the lfs...i when to move it to expose it to more light..and it was attached anymore to the rock...and some of the branches have falling off...but the weird thing is all the lil polyps are still out on it...is this normal and will it stand back up as opposed to being limp on the rock?

This is bad news, but, I had a beautiful cream show piece finger leather and one day, it shrunk down, then the next thing I knew, it was dropping its branches. It died. Why? It may have had something to do with me moving it to a bigger tank. All the rest of my finger leathers were and still are doing fine. I don't know what to tell you except, it may be dying.
I hope I am wrong. :(

How many branches did it drop? Are the dropped branches dead looking? Are there polyps on those dropped branches? The only thing I can think of is that it is just splitting or shedding dead or dying parts. I have had some of mine drop branches and those branches are now growing. I don't know what to tell you. I think only time will tell. Is there anything in the tank that could be nipping at the coral?

The thing with leather corals is exposing them to low lighting no higher lighting. Finger leather will not react well to high lighting and high water flow. Also make sure you are add iodine to your system to feed the finger leather. If you want best results use 2- 400gph power heads in your tank. Nice gental water flow is key.

Mine too. I can't get enough of them. Leathers THRIVE in my tank! I love them!
Your leathers are beautiful! What lighting do you expose your leathers to?
