Help with Halameda needed

Ok, here goes.....out of nowhere, after not introducing anything new for many many months, out of a rock springs this tiny green thing. Next thing I know I have a crop of halameda about 4" x 6", and each stalk is about 3-4" long. I like it's pretty bright green color, but it's kinda going wild. If I prune it, what can I do with the cut off pieces, and do you think it will hurt it?

i have read that over pruning these guys can hurt them. but i have had it come from no where to and let it grow and grow and grow!. but i havent had any problems with pruning it some of it i just grab and pull as close to the roots as possible but it will grow back.. lol as far as what to do with it if you have a local reef club see if anyone wants some that or though it away. to much of this growning in your tank can suck the calcium out of the water collum pretty fast.but it is a pretty and its pretty easy to keep under control.

Welcome to the boards!!
You call that a problem??
Seriously though, People will line up for some of that. I would def. look into local reef club or check with lfs. Don't overprune as loopy said, but sell or trade what you do prune.

Very nice!!

[Thanks fellow reefers. I know there are FAR worse problems,
but it started to cover up my growing candy cane, and I don't want to stifle the coral's growth. Our LFS is a large nationally known one, and they won't buy ANYTHING. They used to have frag swaps every June, but now it's only every other year, and my stuff can't wait
