Help with ID of Arothron Puffer

I got this guy about three weeks ago. I just haven't gotten around to posting a picture. The owner of the LFS got him as an assorted puffer and we spent some time looking through the books he had to try and get a good ID. I just really am not sure. Your help is appreciated. Frank

its a A. stellatus. they get huge. 3 ft.

How much did you pay? They aren't cheap. Yes they get big, and they're also kinda of an hornery sort of puffer. It's a good find though if you can commit.

I only paid 30 bucks for him so I guess I got a good deal on it. I am already planning on getting a larger tank but i may have to upgrade before I ever get a larger tank. He is getting along with everybody else. I have seen my niger actually go after during feeding time. Otherwise, he pretty much stays to himself. Thanks again.

$30.00 is a give away for a stellatus. Good find! I own a 15" stellatus. Very outgoing and an aggressive feeder. You will need a large tank eventually.
