Help with Lion

My Volitan lion has developed what looks like a bruise or lesion just in front of his first venom spine. I seemed to appear suddenly (I inspect my fish daily). He has also become very sluggish, but still eats. He had his fins nipped at a couple weeks ago by a puffer, which I got rid of. As soon as the puffer left, he was fine again, swimming constantly. But now this...Any ideas? His diet consists of Krill, Prawn, or Silversides every other day. Tank readings: Ph 8.2, Ammon. 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrates 20ppm. Thanks for any help...

This could be wound left over from the pufferfish days. Is it red or swollen?
Are you feeding the fish all those things every other day? IMO, I believe fish are healthier if they eat daily.
Lions can be difficult feeders, especially after stress. If the wound around the spine gets worse, you many need to remove the fish and place him in a hospital tank for treatment.
In the meantime, try coaxing the fish to eat by offering the food directly to him.

The area seems to be red and slightly swollen. He eats from my hand, but wouldn't yesterday. He did eat some Krill that fell down. He is certainly not a picky feeder, he eats anything and everything!(I got lucky).

Hi:
it sounds to me that your lion has a mild bacterial infection in the areas where the puffer nipped at the fins.
For future references pufferfish and lions do no mix. Puffers tend to go for flowing showy things like lionfish fins.
What i would do - 2 main things, 1)- ensure your water quality is top notch, what are your current parameters (a few water exchange might be in order) 2)-spruce up the lionfishdiet. Dried prepared foods are not a good long term food for lions(I hope this isn't freeze dried krill) .i would start supplmenting the diet w/ other salt water foods, like fresh gulf shrimp w/ shell on, clams, crabmeat, scallops, squid chunks. i would also enrich the food w/ garlic and selcon/zoecon. You should start rotatin thru the foods every feeding, your feeding schedule is right on. I feel you should not fed lions daily, they are binge eaters and in the wild do not eat daily. So feed a few food items til the fish has a small bluge in its belly and that all. Do no over feed.
Also keep an eye on ths red area if its gets bigger, the fish acts sluggish, or any change in attitude prepare to start treatment w/ a good tissue soluble med-email us back for some suggestions
But first feed the lion better, make sure your water chemistry is spot on, and the fish should heal up and drive on.
keep us informed

Thanks Frank! I couldn't get him to eat the last few days. I will start changing his diet (once he eats again). I do currently soak his food with Kent Zoe. I am now using Mayacyn-Two (spelling?). It was recommended by my LFS. Yesterday was the first round of treatments. He's still really sluggish, so we'll wait and see what happens. Thanks so much for your help, I really like the little guy!
