OK i just bought a coralife super skimmer. Im setting it up under my tank in my wet/dry filter. I set it up and im getting no bubbles. When i take the hose out of the air inlet silencer i get a lot of bubbles. This is my first skimmer so im not sure exactly how its supposed to be but im pretty sure im supposed to have some bubbles. Is it ok if i dont hook the tube from the venturi air inlet into the air inlet silencer??? Please help me im a bit lost.

I have no experience with that brand of skimmer but for most there is a break in period. I have seen skimmers take weeks to break in.

O i forgot to add that i bought this used. Is the break in period only when u buy it new or is it when its put in a different tank?

Not 100% sure on this but I would imagine that it has to do more with your tank. Lets see what others have to say.

Sounds like your inlet silencer is clogged, probably with salt.Run some warm water through it. In the mean time ,you can run the skimmer without it.After you get the Inlet silencer cleaned ,your going to want to shut the output valve all the way and then open it a little bit at a time until you start getting skimate in the cup.I would try and get the bubbles leveled off at the line in the skimmer neck.

Somwhere I have the thread about the coralife Skimmers, but the bottom line is that they are not all the great of skimmers, so I hope you got a really good deal on it... I beleive the Break in period is when you buy it brand spanking new.

Its not a bad skimmer just needs some tweaking and more attention that some of the more expensive ones.
