help with my sump build

hi after resealing my tank im ready to turn it into a sump/display. what i have is a 30G trapizoid so this it what i was thinking, and i would love your opinions and ideas on where to put the baffels. also what do you prefer and why slip or thread pcv pipe? if you send a pic back please use a side view. i need the most help i think on the hight of the first baffel (next to skimmer) and the last one going into chamber of return pump. i say this because dont one of these control how much water (level) is in the sump over all, and if i want fish in the front of it they kinda need some water to swim/live-lol. what do you think it the best pleacement for the holes in the center divider for water movment/ where dont i want to put them because of water levels? thanks for the help in advance.

Honestly my best and first suggestion would be to determine or narrow down what skimmer you want to use on your setup.....With that thinking and theory working, you can somewhat determine what your water level needs to be in the skimmer area....The first baffle will set your water level.......

You might find a little reading material or helpful ideas among some of the pages as well......

I would make my return section the middle section where you have labeled plant/heater. Your baffles/bubble trap you could probably space 3/4" apart

if the first baffel determins how much water (level) is in the sump, dont i want my holes going throu to the front (display area) in that section so there is always a higher hight of water. but then how do i pervent micro bubbles from the skimmer from getting into the front? kinda defeats the purpose of the bubble trap dont it. If i make the return section in the center how do i know where to put the baffel for the refrige section. whats the formula so i can figure out how big i need the return section to be able to hold enogh volume in case of power loss? hope im not losing you guys, i just have so much running throu my mind. trying to just glue in the glass baffels once. would a good test method be to put fresh water in from a 5 gallon bucket into intake area and measure how much goes in untill it would overflow, that way i would know approx where i should put the skimmer box in the main DT?
