Help with new quarantine tank

Ok our fish have ich and we want to set up a hospital tank for it (treating with copper). What do you need to do? I have lights, heater, thermometer, filter (no carbon), and tank ready for the hospital. Thanks for any advise.

You need to first cycle the QT. I would recommend a bottle of Fritz-Zyme's Turbo Start to kick start the cycle and get it done quickly.
What fish are you treating for ich?
You will also need some fake ornaments for the hospital tank so that the fish's stress is lowered.

Do i need to cycle the tank if I put water from my DT in it and am only using it as hospital. After using it as hospital I am going to empty it? I have a Emperor Angel, Powder blue tang, maroon clown, and hippo blue.

Yes, a cycle is needed, even if you transfer the water from your display. The water does not hold any biological bacteria. Biological bacteria is found on surfaces, such as substrate, live rock, bio balls, sponges, bio wheels, etc. When you start the QT, biological bacteria needs to form in order to convert ammonia to nitrite to nitrate. What Turbo Start does is it rapidly adds massive amounts of live bacteria into the water to attach onto your filter.
I personally would not copper any of those sensitive fish (clown excluded). All of them are copper sensitive and may respond quite negatively to the copper treatments.
I myself would do a hyposalinity treatment on them instead. If you are curious as to how to do one of those, check out the step-by-step instructions posted by Beth at the top of this forum.
