I finally decided on the tank ( a 72 bow front ). ( which I need help finding a good place to get one with a stand   so if you know of a place online let me know!)
Anyway, After searchingfor recommended equipment for this size of tank I have came up with the following list of equipment and prices on websites ( I havent serached hard for cheaper prices because I am not 100% sure these are what I need).
What I need to know from the list is if there is other equipment that you think is better for the price or cheaper and just as good. Some of this stuff might have been "hyped up" to make a better sale but isnt much better than something cheaper. If you have any experience with any of the equipment let me know :)
Lighting ficture: PFO PolypLight Lighting Fixture 4x110W VHO ( I know I need about 450-600 W to keep some of the corals I would want) $350
Liting Retrofit Kit: IceCap 48 inch VHO Retrofit Kit - 4 Lamps $314
Protein Skimmer: Precision Marine ES100 Venturi Protein Skimmer $200
Overflow Box: CPR CS90 Overflow Box $87
SumpBerlin Sump BS-1, 23 inch x 12 inch x 14 inch $135
Sump Return PumpDanner Mag-Drive Supreme 7 700 GPH Water Pump $55
Filter ( I want a quiet one and I am not sure this is the "quietest"Eheim Pro External Canister Filter 2224160
Water Movement/ WavemakerTunze Single Controller 709155
HeaterPro-Heat 350W Titanium Heater30
thermometerJBJ Digi-Temp10
HydrometerCaptive Purity Refractometer with Calibration Dial90
Test KitRed Sea Reef Lab Test Kit25
RO/DI unitCaptive Purity 75 GPD Deluxe RO Filter System - Clear Canisters150
Is there anything else I need? these prices seem high but they might not be (I just started "shopping")
For fish I was looking at
Atlantic Blue Tang
Flame Angel ( the smallest angel I could find)
Fridmani (orchid dotty back)
3 Green Chromis
Mandarin Dragonet – Spotted
2 Percula Clown
It may be alot and they would be added slowly. It is hard to estimate what is too much when I cant find "adult" sizes of many of these fish
Any input would be greatly apperciated.. my email is jkettell84 (at) hotmail dot com
thanks,
Jess

IMO I would stay away from the canister filters....You already are planning on a sump so really no need for the canister filter......Your lighting is really open.....Have you checked out the Coralife HQI retros? Alittle expensive, but nice units......You can find cheaper retro kits out there just as good if not better......For your lighting I would check out Hellolights and see what there prices are and if your a DIY you can really save yourself a bundle putting together you own lighting system.........
As far as skimmers don't skimp on size or quality.......IMHO ASM are the best all round bang for the buck skimmer....AquaC's are very good as well.....I would opt for a different return pump......Submersibles are easy to use, but will add heat to your water, and depending on lighting and canopy design could have heat issues as well, so why add more heat to the tank IMO.......Test kits I would go with Salifert instead of RedSea!!!!! Can't go wrong period with the Tunze powerheads!!!!!!
