help with nova extreme pro light!

I purchased a 48" nova extreme pro light. Since I live in puerto rico, I had to have the light shipped to my parents house in michigan since I only found 1 place that would ship here and it was almost 200 dollars. So the light showed up to my parents house, everything was good. then it was UPS down to me in puerto rico. It took a week to get here from michigan, which is absolutly horrible in my opinion. Well it showed up at my house at 7:30 pm. I was really excited. As soon as I moved the package into the house I heard a bunch of glass moving and I was like oh great. I opened the box and all 3 of the actinic's were shattered. Mind you this was packed excellent and it was in 3 different boxes with foam and everything and they still broke 3 bulbs. It actually looks like someone stepped on the box in the middle because there is a giant foot print on the center of the box. I have the insurance on the package just waiting for UPS to come by and inspect the light. Also 1 of my fans do not work.
Here is my question after babbling;
I have the 2 switches but from when I pluged it in it seems to turn on all the lights that I have remaining and the other plug seems to run 1 fan. Can someone tell me if 1 plug is for the 10k lights and the other is for the actinic's? also do both fans run all the time? please explain the basic system operation to me since I have no idea how this works.
Thanks for reading.

I found out my other fan does work off the other switch. Now here is another question. I have 2 spots that do not have any actinic bulbs at all and 1 actinic and 3 10k bulbs in it. When I turn on 1 switch all 4 bulbs come on and 1 fan. Is that because there are 2 slots with no bulbs in them? The other switch just turns the other fan on and off. I know they are supposed to be independant controls. Someone please help

I just got a Nova extreme 8 bulb unit. It has 2 switches.
Each switch operates 4 bulbs and a fan.
thanks I figured that part out. The only question that I have now is that I switch turns on 3 10k and 1 fan and 1 actinic. Is that because there are 2 slots with no bulbs in them?

Coastie ......Here is what my 6 bulb N.Ex,Pro does........And by the way,thanks for serving our Country!!!

The back switch nearer the plug wire lead out point, operates 2 Actinic bulbs and one fan....... The second bulb from the back and the front one............
The front switch runs the back bulb the third,fourth,and fifth ones and the other fan........... ...Sorry the bulbs where busted...........

I think a thing many with this light have done is do a bulb change as to color after a while........ When you get all six running it is a very "White" light......Good Luck..................

+1 agreed on the brightness. My 8 bulb unit was WAY too bright for my taste. I replaced 2 of the 10K bulbs with Fiji Purple bulbs and it's still pretty bright.

Yep after staring at the whiteness for a while I replaced 4 of the 6. Two of the 10ks K's with Giesemann 11 K Aquablue plus leaving one 10 k and changed the regular Actinics to one Pure Actinic Giesemann and one Actinic plus bulb, leaving two of the originals yet........
Growth speed in the DT is not an issue with me anymore. I may at some time change the last two to around 14 k????
I am still tinkering with the color, the bulbs I end up not using on the DT will be over a new frag tank.
