help with rock

I have bought about 60lb of rock, getting ready to start 55g tank. when I mix water and put in rock with sand and let tank cycle, should I do anything to the rock (clean it) before I put it in? It used to be live rock. I have had it in a container out of water for 2 months.

then its a dead rock. just rinse them and put them in the tank.

All I did when i got my rock is put it in, so far nothing has happened.
