Help With RODI system

Hi, I'm looking to purchase a RODI unit but I'm confused on a few things. First of all, how do these install? Do you hook these up to your sink? Do you have to install it into your water line or what? I'm also curious how long it takes to say make 10 gallons of RODI water? Does it happen during a day or does it take longer.

they install anywhere you want they need an incoming water supply, a waste line, they make water on demand the amount depends on the GPD (gallons per day) rating. There is no reason not to insall it under your sink, you can purchase a holding tang ( usually 21/2 gallon) so you have that much ready to go, or run it direct to sump for top withan atoshutoff.
The system I run has a faucet above the sink for RO and a seperate output bellow the sik for th DI. I can make 100GPD when I need water 1 get 5 gallons of DI in about 30 minutes, with the first 2/1 gallon being on demend from th RO side already. Mine is from a LFS but alot of people use Air Water Ice online as a good source. Took me about 30 minutes to install mine.

How big is your check book?

I like the spectra pure units. The UHE is the best unit when it comes to waste. Depending on the TDS of your tap water it will do 2 gallons of pure to 1 gallon of waste. Other then that it will do a 1:1. Your gonna pay for it though. In the long run they pay for themselves.
Short of them I like the Buckeye field supply Ro/Di units. BIG price difference but they membrains they use are of better quality then the others IMO.
A big thing to look at when choosing is the rejection rate. The higher the more pure the water. Also the higher the number the longer the DI resin (if so equiped) will last.

IMHO - Try to avoid running it directly into your sump. When your shutoff/float valve jams, (and it will eventually) you get to come home to a tank full of fresh water. If you opt to do that anyway, install 2 auto shutoffs/float valves inline with each other to back each other up.

IF YOU HAVENT picked up an RO /DI syetm yet. I just put up a thread about different systems. I ended up going with the PUREWATERCLUB system for under $110. It came with free replacement filters and DI refill.

You can put it under your sink. You have to install a saddle valve which pierces the copper plumbing and lets water flow through. There's also an option to hook it directly on your sink, but doing it that way will get tiring very quickly.
As to answer how much wastewater there is, it depends on what rodi system you get. Some produce one gallon of water to waste two gallons of water or 1:2 ratio. Others are 1:3 and 1:4, it just depends on what you get.
Don't try to run your wastewater back through your system either, it's waste for a reason.

I ordered mine already and Im just waiting on it to arrive. This whirlpool system I had got sucks... I have to replace the filters often even though the water coming in through the system isnt that dirty to begin with. just a cheap ro system from lowes.
I hear good things about the purewaterclub system. cant wait for it to get here. i also purchased the sediment wash valve so I can backwash the filter if my tds reading shoots up.
Only thing i wasnt able to find out is the shipping charge. But so far my credit card shows no extra charges for shipping.
