Help with specific gravity

When doing a water change how do I maintain specific gravity? I heard that the salt stays constant so if i wanted to do a water change would i just add R/O water?
Help needed im a newbie!

Also mix it and let is dissolve prior to adding it. About a day with powerheads for circulation.

One ,ore tidbit of info that I myself just learned from TREY.If you use tap,or city water let it sit for 24 hours before youmix the salt. The chloeine in the water will kill all the trace elements in the salt mix...
