help with vho lights again

my vho lights wont come on when i flip the light switch on. i have to do it 3 times before they finally come on. what could cause that to happen? do they take a minute to come on? i put a light switch on them so i dont have to keep unplugging it could that have something to do with it? i have had that on it since day one so i dont know how it works without it on there.

old hermit, when you bought your vho lights, did it come complete?? I mean, the plastic holder thingy that your lights set in?? Like a strip light?? I want to buy vho lighting for my tank now but geez, it's so confusing. I was told that my strip lights that came with the tank and have just regular bulbs in it won't work for vho. So then, what "casing" type do you use? Is that seperate??

Thanks for your help old hermit. You CAN buy the whole shibang without having to have a hood, which I don't. Way more expensive than I planned, but that's the reef business, I guess....LOL
