Help with water change

Hi, my tank just finished cycling my 40g FO tank about two weeks ago. Since then I added a clown and a trigger, and got rid of my damsels. I did one 8 gallon water change during my cycle. When should I do another one? All of my readings are at zero. Should I wait for my nitrates to go up? Help?

Doing a water change isn't only done to remove nitrates, etc. It also adds needed minerals/vitamins and other good things to the tank. I do a twenty percent water change every two weeks, but you'll get a lot of different opinions about this subject.

as stated above ... water changes help keep the system going...sort of like refreshing it..I change 5 gal every other week in my 55's...one this week...other next week...pre-mix my water to 1.023 sg...temp to 80...keep it circulated with a power head.....sunday afternoon remove the old and add the new

the more often you change your water the better running your tank will be. I have a 200 and a 120 and change 20% one week and 10% the next week
Remember good lighting, good water, good water turnovers, and a good skimmer make a happy tank! ;)
