I also had a problem with my tank when I first started. I think on most of the copper based medicines, they recommend to leave medicated for many days... as many as 10. I did that and did a 75% water change, put new carbon in and it's fine now. I had a more serious problem than just white spot. I think i had parasites. For white spots, I used Melafix and it got rid of it easily. Good luck.

If everything dies then I would do the 75% water change. Leave the treatment in for now. Do you have a hospital tank?

If the little white spots are ick, you will need to treat for 21 days minimum with copper. It does not hurt to add a few days either just to make sure.
I would continue treating if I had one fish alive and wanted to try and save it. If it dies, discontinue treating and don't add anything to the take for at least 21 days after the last fish is removed. That will guarantee that the ick is no longer present.
Good luck!
