First of all, thank you guys for all your helpful information. I have a 90g saltwater tank set up. I am having alot of problems with fish dying and major algae blooms. I cycled the tank for 2 months. My wet dry is rated for 100g, is that big enough. I currently am not using chemical filtration, should i be. I use r.o./d.i. water for water changes. I have a berlin turbo skimmer, although i have had some difficulty making it operate correctly. The salt i use is instant ocean. I only have two small damsels and a tomato clown in the tank.(the others died) I am considering increasing the frequency with which i do water changes (which is currently once a month) to every two weeks (25%) and adding some activated carbon(phosphate free). If that won't work i might consider getting a bigger wet dry to combat the algae and keep fish alive. The three fish that died all had a white patch over one of their eyes, it looked like some sort of fungus but the other three fish are still alive with no signs of any fungus. Please Help! Anyone with any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
test reading listed below
system has been set up for about 5mo.
also, would it be better to tear the tank down clean all the rock or try to kill off the algae through traditional way(i.e. chemical filtration) then let it die off by itself

First I would test all your levels and make sure you have completed the cycle and also test phosphate. Algae blooms during and right after the cycle are normal typically. As far as the fungus I would read more into diseases and post that to the disease forum as you might have something else going on. I would think the wet/dry is probably sufficient currently since your tank has just started, but be careful with the bio-balls as they can create more headaches down the road. Do some searches on this board for wet/dry filters and I am sure you will understand what I mean about issues later.

A five month old tank should have nO ammo,or nitrites at all..I'm guessing that your tank is still in the cycle,or in a recycle right now...I would add nothing more to this setup till these readings are at ZERO...How many fish have died??How many did you have in there before this started to happen??What are you using in the wetdry, balls, bio bail,What??How much/how often were you feeding???
