My live rock and back of my glass, power heads, heater, etc. has bubbles all over them. What is this? Do I need to rid my tank of this a.s.a.p.? Also I'm gitting dark purple almost black algea on my crushed coral and some of my LR. What is this? Is this good or bad? I have a lot of green algea on my back glass. This is a good sign, right? My yellow Tang seems to be eating the bubbles on the glass(OR he may be eating the green algea.)
My tank is a 55:
Bak Pak II Cyclone
4 Power Heads
Skilter Filter (Not used as a skimmer)
25# of rock
48" Actinic Blue(On for 7 hours a day)
48" 50/50(On for 7 hours)
2 15Watt lights(On for 8 hours a day)
Is this too little or too much light?
The only additive I use is SeaChem Reef Calcium.(3-4 ml. a week)

the rock says...
do you mean bubbles or algae with bubbles under it? the algae you are talking about sounds like cyanobacteria which can be a real pain and has a lot to do with the nutrients and waste in your tank. what kind of fish are you keeping and have any of them died recently, do you have an overload of fish and are you feeding too much? do you have any inverts in your tank cleaning up? what do you have in your tank that should be eating the algae growth? if the algae is black that is a fungus and a nasty one too. don't know about the light you have up because we don't know whats in your tank, corals, fish, inverts etc, give us some insight please

25# Fugi Rock (plan on more real soon)
Feather Duster
Tank mates:
Med. Yellow Tang
Yellow headed Jaw Fish
Gold Striped Maroon Clown
Clean Up Crew:
Cleaner Shrimp
Long Spined Urchin
10 blue legged Hermits
5 Turbo Snail
Most of this seemed to have started after I got the LR. My collection cup on my Bak Pak II filled up about every 10 minutes for 3-4 hours after I got the LR placed in the tank. I ordered the LR from FFE. It was supposed to be cured.(The rock looked great.) Could this have been my problem? Could the rock not have been cured enough. Every thing in my tank looks as healthy as ever! How important is RO water? I just did a 10 gallon water change two days ago, but the algea returned. Should I start doing my water changes with RO water? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.......

I would defintely change to r/o water, I am having a major problem with hair algae and waited too long, but I have been told the tap water has alot of phosphates which causes algae
