I started this hobby 6 months ago with a gift of a 10G tank and a starter kit (salt, bulb, penguin bio-wheel filter, heater)
I was just wondering if the 10,000K bulb that came with my set is ok for corals and can someone explain the difference between the degrees (6500 or etc) and the type (PC, metal halide, flourescent)
And is 10,000K bulb a PC bulb??

Lights try that link and see if that helps.
also, you'll need perfect water for reef, and you'll need to test alk and calc if you don't already.
Also, some fish and inverts aren't reef safe, so make sure what you already have is safe.

most likly your bulb is only a stardard flourescent light which is 15watts, a reef needs a min. of 3watts per gallon, plus a 10 is alot harder to maintain because water parameters can go bad pretty fast

I figured out that my light is a PC...went to the LFS and saw the package that mine came in.
I'm all good for corals now
VERY excited
