theres a dozen different ways we all have our own methods. Here is a brief run down of the most common in no particular order-
#1- Rubber band it to a small rock loosly and then in a week or so, glue or wedge rock in crevase of larger rock where you want
#2- Cut a dixie cup in half and add inch of sand from tank so it sinks and then toss in mushroom and cover with bridal veil. And put it back in your tank. After a few days the mushroom will have attached to the loose sand. Pull from aqaurium and pet dry and then glue to disired rock, sand will hold glue where just the mushroom usually wont. You can also use small chunks or rock rubble and it will eventually stick to something.
#3- crazy glue Gel, pull rock and pat dry and pat mushroom dry and then crazy glue directly here you want it. (this usually doesnt work very well as mush tend to be slimy)
#4- just toss it in and hope it sticks to something, but odds are you wont find it for a month.
Hope this helps.
