I Looked Over Into My 5.5 Gallon Tank And I Have An Orange Trochus Snail Shooting Some Milky Crap Into My Crystal Clear Water!!! It's Clouding Everything And Making Me Really Mad!! I Have Quarantined Him.
What Is He Doing???

Can someone please respond?? I have to leave to go home for the weekend and I have no idea if what the snail did is harmful.

My feather duster did that the other day... I believe they call it "spawning".... but yes, it's releasing the Navy in the water.

I hate to sound ignorant, but if there are no other trochus snails in the tank, whose eggs is he trying to fertilize? Or is he just "releasing some tension?"

One other thing:
When I saw the milky substance clouding the water, I decided to add a carbon packet to the filter. When I did this, I accidentally stirred up all the live rock in the HOB filter, which released a lot of detritus/waste into the DT.
The filter sucked it all right back up in 20 minutes, but do I have anything to worry about? I have heard of mini-cycles being started this way, and in a 5.5 gal, that risk is probably increased. The tank is about 4 months old.
I guess a large water change is in order monday morning. Anything else I should do?
