I have noticed what started looking like red dust in one corner of the tank. It was there in the evening and gone in the morning. It didnt go away last night, infact it got worse...alot worse.It appears to have some bublles in it. Could somebody tell me what this is and what I possibly have done to cause it or what I didnt do to prevent it. It is also growing on my rock.

Cyano usually grows in areas that do not have enough flow and its growth can be accelerated by excess nitrates and phosphates. What are your water parameters and how much flow do you have?

My test kit always says 0 on nitrates, nitrites and ammonia...I think it lies...Im going to take some to the LFS tomorrow. I have a 29 biocube with a korrila 1 for added flow. Tha area probably has the slowest flow of the tank. Ill try to move the korilla and see if it helps.

i'm not a nano guy, but i know they have korilla nano's. they have real light flow, and i'm assuming they're tiny little buggers as far as the realm of powerheads goes. you might want to check out adding one of those in your tank directed towards that corner.

Perfect
I was in saltwater several years ago and this was the reason I left. I could not get rid of it.
So after several months and lots of reading, I am now back and have over two months and no cyano. I have very good flow but going after another P/H tomorrow(oops today). My phosphates are down to 1 and nitrates are under 10.
I would add or redirect flow and get your test kits checked (buy new ones).

I would use this as an absolute last resort, Redslime remover is an anitbiotic and kills more than just the cyano, and there have been a few intances where it has upset the entire system. Renogaw just recently had some issues with red slime remover so you might check out his thread on the subject.

I had Cyno bad when I first started in this hobby. I cut back on feeding only feeding like every other day and I stopped using flake food. I now only use frozen and and I feed daily and I have no problems with Cyno. I also make sure I don't over feed.
