HELP!!

Hi all,
I just got a Flame Angelfish yesterday and followed the acclimation to a tee. When I introduced him into my tank, the Clownfish bullied him and pecked at him and forced the Angel into a hiding cave. Today he hid all day, until about an hour ago and he was on his side breathing heavily. My parameters are all in line, all my other fish and corals are doing just fine. I have the Angel in a quarantine container and he doesn't seem to be improving. Is there anything I can do to save him?

How beat up is he? Flame angels are very sensitive to the water quality. I'm sure you now realize that he should not have been put into the main tank so soon. Keep the lights dim, and add a little stress-coat. Make sure he has a hiding place to feel comfortable and try to not to get too close to his little tank ogling him. If he can get over his stress he might be okay, if he isn't beat up too bad. Use an air line (no stone) to move the water, and make sure there are no ammonia spikes. Add an algae clip with a nori sheet to nibble on. I hope he makes it.

Thanks, I've got it done. His breathing has slowed down but he's still on his side in quarantine. Tested the water twice and there is no trace of ammonia and the nitrates are under 5ppm. I hope he can pull through. My clowns are such bullies it's almost impossible for me to add other fish. I was able to add fire gobies because the clowns can't catch them. It's so frustrating, I've been concentrating on building the reef and want to add some fish...ughhhhh

First, you really should qt your new fish. I know it's a pia, but it's a great way to get a fish fat and rested after the stress of shipping...and before the stress of a new tank. Just sayin.
About your clowns....any way you can catch them and remove them for a few days? Better yet...keep them out of the main tank until you're done with your planned stockist. Clowns should be near the last to go in; they're belligerent, aggressive buggers. Good luck on your Flame..they're beautiful animals!

Sometimes moving the rocks around will make an established fish think it's all new territory, and stop them from going defensive to save their spot. LOL...keeping them in a separate tank like Nova said would work as well....why not just get rid of the clowns until you have your tank stocked. I can't imagine running 3 tanks..1 as your display, 1 as a quarantine, and 1 for the mean clowns, just seems like too much work to me.

I get clowns r in the damsel family.therefore tend to b aggressive however there are many diff types of clowns sum more aggressive then others. I have a pair of oscellarius clowns. They went in first and never bothered any other fish. My royal gramma shows more interest in new fish then my clowns
