My tank is growing brown funk. What is it and how do i get rid of it?

Add powerheads for water movement, don't use tap water for your tank(may have phosphates), and cut back on your feeding.

How long has it been since you first start up your tank? My guess is that the brown funky stuff is diatom bloom. It's a good thing to have, if you just started your tank. It will go away by itself. However, if you have an established tank, I don't know .
